Well, its the season we enjoy all the comings and goings of our customers and tonight is going to be a lot of fun for everyone. We are going Italian for tonight's private party....its going to be amazing. A 5 course dinner that includes, minestrone, caprese salad, seared sea scallops with a Fra Diavolo sauce, sausage and Boursin cheese lasagna....and save room for dessert folks! Cannoli's on the dessert plate!
Each course is matched with its own wine/beer pairing and the diner will be decorated to reflect the season! I can't wait till our party gets going!
We've added some delicious Baklava to our counter and they are flying out of here....or am I eating them all??? Not sure about that. Janet and Alan Heath from Baklava Unlimited make these and distribute to some very popular grocery chains. They are in our neighborhood here and we are lucky to have them. They go really well with our coffee for something small and sweet. We want to wish all our customers and fellow small business owners a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

So the nice thing about owning your own business...you get to call the shots. The downside of owning your own business, sometimes the shots call you! Its been a great week at the diner and our catering business is growing. That's a good thing indeed. We hired Mark Alexander as our weekend line cook....and he's amazing! The bonus of having Mark is that one of us gets a day off. That's the best thing EVER! If I get my way, he's never going to leave! But don't tell Mark! Or Keith! Or Kenneth for that matter!!!!

What a crazy week we've had over at Macs Place. The catering business has really picked up and we couldn't be happier. Tomorrow we're going to be throwing our support behind a local business and serving our soon to be famous bison burgers. Be sure and ask for the red onion marmalade and feta cheese. Our new app is getting a lot of attention and we're pleased with how it looks. Customers can put their orders in right from their phone and then swing in and pick it up. No need to stand in the line either. The Prairie scholars will be joining us on Saturday on the patio. It's always exciting when Andy and Jessica Eppler show up. Have you heard of Hopscotch the musical?  Well,we sure have and now we're going to be selling tickets for the event. Come on by and get a nice hearty breakfast and get your tickets to this wonderful production. It will be at the Vance Brand auditorium in January2015. So many cool things happening in Longmont these days.

Lots going on in the diner this week! Catering, catering and more.....catering. From weddings to simple breakfasts, we've done it all this week. Thanks to our friends at Frontiere Natural meats here in Longmont, CO, we got to play around with some Bison....well, the meat, not the animal. It was totally moist and yummy and we will be featuring him on the lunch menu this Friday! According to the USDA:
Bison is a deeper red color before cooking because there is no marbling (white flecks of fat within the meat muscle). Bison is said to have a sweeter, richer flavor than beef and has less fat and fewer calories than beef.

According to USDA's Agricultural Research Service (ARS),100 grams of raw bison (separable lean only) contains 109 calories and 1.8 grams fat. The same amount of raw beef (separable lean only, Choice grade) contains 291 calories, and 24 grams fat.


I love red meat and am going to enjoy getting more into my diet without the downsides of beef.....though, gotta admit, they both taste delicious!!!

Well, its been an amazing week here in the diner....while Monday is officially our day off, we were here cleaning up! Saturday and Sunday had us all hoppin! Tuesday started slow but quickly took off....a few extra catering orders than expected which is good, but no time for rest. A young boy caught all our attention this week with I would call a "very eclectic palate". He had our Rueben with the grilled sauerkraut!!!! So I'm thinking that his opinion might be a good one to get on our newest member of the menu....its a Pan-fruit-muffin. PFM for short. Even though I am a huge fan of Peyton Manning, it has nothing to do with him....but hey, if he wants to try one....
So the young man like the fruit filled muffins and I think they are a keeper. I enjoy that part of my job the most....customer interaction. We have the best customers in the world here!

Do you ever have one of those day? Those days that test your patience as well as your physical strength? Well, we all had one at the same time today at the diner....
My brother in law was fighting what looks to be a cold, our daughter had a case of 13 year old attitude, our son has been asking to train more on the POS system and I arrived with a lovely headache that required a healthy dose of Ibuprofen! Luckily Keith was in fine form but no match for over 150 orders of eggs!!!!Wait times turned ugly and we hunkered down to get the best meals out in a reasonable amount of time. Most of our customers were happy to see the crowds, but still others were just plain hungry.
After the Broncos game was over,  we came up with a plan for future Sundays that will ensure more timely service without deterioration of product. Thank you to all our wonderful customers who came in to see us today, we appreciate your business and today....we really appreciated your patience!

What an exciting time here at the diner! Along with celebrating Keith's birthday along comes our two grandmas and our daughter! Watch out....these Virgos are in charge!!
Our new app will come live here on IPhones in about 2 weeks, they are live on Android today. Customers/Friends will be able to order their Mac's Place favorites and pay for it with paypal! We are looking forward to offering this as it makes your wait time considerably less. We will be offering a few incentives with the app so be on the lookout for those announcements!

Whose cookin today? Well, its the birthday boy, Keith. Long before this became a national day of mourning, it was simply known as Dad's birthday....he turns 55 today and to quote him, "he has LOMS"....its commonly called Little Old Man Syndrome.
I like to think of him as being "Vintage".
So much happening in the diner these days....catering is taking off and we are sending out lots of proposals. We are also extremely pleased with being able to offer our customers a taste of the local musicians....
Many of you already know this, but I grew up just north of Nashville, Tenn. You couldn't swing a dead cat for hitting a budding Opry singer! From the Texas tunes of The Prairie Scholars to the soulful aspirings of Denny Driscoll and Nick O'Conner....we've been honored to include them on our guest list. Next up in our little diner is Denny Driscoll (9.13.14)and the following week, Defunkt Railroad (9.20.14).
Our diner family continues to grow and even though we have the first confirmed case of LOMS, we are blessed beyond measure.

Well, we aren't exactly cookin this one up! But Darrell Ritchie and his App making team are!!! Yes, you heard/read me right! Mac's Place will have its very own App soon. Perhaps as soon as this weekend you will be able to get push notifications of our lunch specials and see who is playing on the Patio.
Now, some of you know my husband is technologically handicapped.....he never understood why we had to go past the rotary dial telephone! So developing an App for our diner is a feat indeed! Folks who download the app will be able to order straight from their phone and come by to pick it up! Imagine, our sweet cream pancakes just waiting for ya!

The diner is quiet this morning and it gives me a great opportunity to tell you about our week.....well, as sometimes occurs in the diner business....things go painfully wrong (equipment failure) and joyously right!!!
Becky R surprised us with brand new beautiful menus! They look amazing and its stuff like this that we simply can't get done while running the place.....back burner things, ya know??? She likes to come in with her mom and is a fan of our little family diner....we very much appreciate her work and I believe we owe her a maple-bacon cinnamon roll on her next appearance.
In the midst of a crazy breakfast service our longtime customers Judy and Fred came in for their usual two egg breakfast....she is just out of an arm sling after an injury to her upper left arm. She came bearing a beautiful gift...a stained glass sign with our diner's name on it.....It hangs proudly in our front window. Will gladly comp them a meal or two!!!!
Our customers are amazing people. They are easy going and a pleasure to serve. We are truly blessed at Mac's Place.

The next 24 hrs are going to keep us hoppin in the kitchen at Mac's Place!!! Tonight we will host a 70 birthday party for a man that doesn't really look like he's 70....but hey, his daughter is throwing it for him and the choices on foods she made were  AWESOME! Can't wait....then we are doing a small catering tomorrow as well as entering a chili cook-off here in town! Benefits go to the Humane Society so we are all in for this one!!! Then, the most exciting.....WE are the first stop on the Cheeseburger tour of Longmont....what pressure!!!!! The Oh-so-popular Prairie Scholars are the conductors on this tour and to make these even more fun....the Left Hand Artist group is going to decorate our patio for us!
I feel a glass of wine (or 4)  in my future!!!

Some real exciting happenings over here at Mac's Place this week....and for a few weeks to come! This Sunday we will get to hear the talented Jessica Eppler from The Prairie Scholars along with her friend Denny Driscoll....we are told by "those in the know" that Denny is quite the musicologist....can't wait!!!!
We signed ourselves up for the Chili Cook-Off at 300 Suns Brewery for Aug 10. Proceeds go to benefit the amazing Longmont Humane Society.....Keith has an awesome chili that won't set you on fire and is full of great flavors! Also on August 10th, Mac's Place will be featured in the Cheeseburger Tour of Longmont....we are calling the event "Chalk and Cheese" because we also have some local artists coming by to decorate the patio with their talents!!!!!

July at Mac's Place is going to be AWESOME!!! From our new lunch special additions like this weeks Greek salad to some new musical talents....we have it all this hot month of the summer.
While away, we sampled a pretty tasty Falafel and have been working in the kitchen to perfect it....wait and taste it!!! The pretty lady, Jessica Eppler from The Prairie Scholars will bring along a new friend to sing some tunes for us on the Patio on the 20th of July....we will miss Andy Eppler but are looking forward to some new tunes. In early August (the 10th to be exact!) we will open the patio up again for some local chalk artists....this will be soooo cool! Swing by and grab a bite to eat while watching the local talent do their stuff!!!! Pics to follow for sure!

I don't know where to begin....is it with the huge crowd this weekend? Or is it with the amazing tunes of our favorite Prairie Scholars? Maybe its both! Thanks to all our groovy customers who came by for a bit to eat and to those rockstar Dads who came on Sunday a huge THANK YOU!!!

We are super excited over here....the diner has been approved as a Bike To Work Station on Wednesday June 25th. Come by on your bike between 6:30-9am for a yummy tasty treat. We will fuel you up on the inside so your bike to work day is delicious as well as healthy!

Our kitchen is busy coming up with our amazing lunch specials for the week! On Tuesday we will feature the Buffalo chicken wrap...careful, he has a kick! On Wednesday we are making our infamous French Dip and Thursday we are trying something new....Raspberry Chicken salad...sure to be a summer fave! On Friday, due to increased demand, we are bringing back the Schnitzel burger! Watch out!

Father's Day here at Mac's Place

Fathers Day is going to be so exciting here at Mac's Place....for one, Keith has to work!!! So since he will be slaving away we decided to treat the Dads to some toe tappin tunes...try saying that three times fast.
Jessica and Andy from The Prairie Scholars will be entertaining us all with their cool music! Bring Dad by for a tasty Rueben or one of our delicious chuck Angus burgers!!! Music is from 12-1pm....lunch until 2pm!!!

This summer is going to be a busy one here at the diner! We purchased a few new tables and  umbrellas so folks can enjoy their breakfast outside....so nice to be able to do that here in sunny Colorado.
A special shout out to all our customers who voted for us in The Times Call Reader's Choice awards....we placed 2nd in Best New Restaurant, 2nd in Best Breakfast/Brunch and 3rd in Best Lunch....I've said it before that our customers are the best!!!

Wow, wow, wow!!!! We celebrated our One Year Anniversary in style...the kitchen was hopping and so was the patio! Thank you to The Prairie Scholars for entertaining all of us and sharing your stories! We won't wait another year to do that again!!!!  And I just have to say how tickled I was to get photobombed by Andy!!!!

Wow!!! The first ever Mac's Place Mothers Day buffet was a huge success! Thank you to all our customers who joined us yesterday....and to those who wanted to ask about doing a buffet more often....well, its worth considering.
And for those asking what Teresa was getting for Mothers Day....well, I am getting Fathers Day OFF!!!!

Working on our Mother's Day buffet today....all you can eat from our delicious choices! We are going to do a lunch one as well!!! I am trying to get a few posters up at the diner. Experimenting in the kitchen is very yummy. I am thinking the lunch will not be our normal stuff, but rather a nice roast beef, mashed potato dinner or a ham one.....our Mother's deserve something really special that day!

What a weekend we just had! Thanks to everyone who came by, it was amazing to see so many familiar faces. Our specials for this week will feature our favorite Cuban Sandwhich on Tuesday with a yummy Mojito fruit salad on the side. Wednesday will see my favorite French Dip and Thursday our lunch special will be Kenneths fave, the Buffalo Chicken wrap. On Friday we are steering  away from the fish and going to make a yummy Mac n Cheese with Crispy onions on top! Delish!!!

Easter breakfast at Mac's place

Here is one of our yummy dishes for the Easter menu. A hash brown basket with a cheese and pepper Frittata. Tastes as good as it looks. 

Time to start thinking about our lunch specials for the week and we are going to try a few new ones and a few classics.
Tuesday we will have a Mac's Place favorite, the Cuban Sandwich. Its got Roast Pork, swiss cheese, pickles, yellow mustard and ham....yummo!! On Wednesday we are doing Kenneth's creation: Mac's Place Roast beef wrap...the kitchen sink sauce is in there!
Thursday we will do a great soup and sandwich combo of grilled ham and swiss with our house made Tomato-Chipotle soup. Friday will see the return of the Fish tacos! Can't wait!

Oh yeah!!! The finest cheddar and cold beer come together in a delightfully

comforting soup. This is a new one and I can already tell.... We will be doing him again.

Keith is back!!!

Yeah!!! I am doing my happy dance today ... as after working from home for over a week, keith has our books caught up and several tax forms complete. He is back at the  restaurant like usual. Good to have him back. Next year we will be employing someone to do this..... Yikes!

Mac's Place is a buzz with big plans for the month of May!!! Mother's Day will bring our first patio breakfast for the wonderful Moms out there! Then we have our 1st year anniversary celebration and have invited the Prairie Scholars to join us for some foot stompin fun!
We are going to expand the patio seating a bit more too! Lots going on!!!

We've drummed up a great list of lunch specials this week and I am sure you're going to like them. On Tuesday, we thought we'd try something new.....a chili dog....our meat chili over a fabulous dog. Wednesday we are doing the Cuban sandwich is pretty popular with our customers. On Thursday we are doing Kenneth's favorite Buffalo chicken wrap....he's got a bit of a kick to him. Lastly, on Friday we will do our pan fried Tilapia filets.....so yummy!
Still making plans for the big Anniversary celebration in May....its going to be so much fun!!!!

This would bring us more customers and really boost our presence in the neighborhood/city. A vote for us would mean that anonymity doesn't rule....and that we do want to know our neighbors, friends, etc. It would mean that big retail stores/restaurants have their place but the Mom/Pop shops are the heart of our city....Mac's Place represents that....a diner where everyone knows your name!

This weeks new lunch specials are really cool!!! Come on Tuesday for the honey mustard Pork chop. Wednesday will feature our favorite French Dip (ask for extra au jus). Thursday, because its supposed to cool down, we will do our meat chili in a bread bowl! Friday we are mixing it up with a kicky Fish Taco!!! Come on over or call it in.....
